The 3rd Congressional District of Virginia

The independent cities of Franklin, Newport News, and Portsmouth, as well as sections of the independent cities of Chesapeake, Hampton, Norfolk, and Suffolk, as well as the whole county of Isle of Wight, are served by the Virginia's third congressional district.

There were just nine counties in 1788, but there are now 48 counties and 13 cities in the district.

The 3rd Congressional District of Virginia in 1788 comprised all of modern-day Virginia, including the counties of Carroll, Floyd, Roanoke, Botetourt, Augusta, and Rockingham to the west, as well as the counties of Carroll, Floyd, Roanoke, Botetourt, Augusta, and Rockingham.
